This course is an evolution of the CDP in which we consider topics rich for further exploration from the CDP. In the CDP-EVOLVING, we retain the same intimate class size and format, plus participants receive additional opportunities for creative personal and group practice (writing practice and expressive arts practice). All topics are considered through a lens of self-compassion.
Topics may include:
- Trusting ourselves: Personal expression and voice
- Compassionate motivation; continuing to cultivate the compassionate voice
- Creative engagement w/the inner critic
- Compassionately relating with time — urgency and rushing in daily life
- Physiological regulation: Window of Tolerance for 2022
- Relational self-compassion: Physiological co-regulation
- Balance in caregiving;
- Forgiveness of self and others;
- Anger;
- People pleasing and perfectionism;
- Wonder, joy, and appreciation.
Who this course is designed for:
This course is designed for those who have already graduated from the CDP and wish to continue to deepen and embody self-compassion skills within community. The course provides a dynamic experience guided by a spirit of curiosity, courage, and the emergent needs of the class. Because this is designed as a group experience, CDP-E participants make a good-faith effort to attend class regularly for their benefit and the benefit of their classmates. If there are non-negotiable work, health, or family commitments that will interfere with consistent attendance, we ask that applicants wait until the course fits better into their schedule so as to keep attendance of this personal growth program in compassionate alignment with life commitments. The CDP-E is not applicable to those in current acute crisis.
Facilitation team for the CDP-E
The course will be taught by Tina Gibson and Siri Chandler. Optional biweekly practice sessions in thematic alignment with the course will be led by David Fredrickson (contemplative writing practice in the spirit of Natalie Goldberg) and Mara Elwood (expressive arts). We will also invite in periodic guest speakers — experts in their respective fields — to expand and enliven the learning experience.
Note: This course is contingent on minimum enrollment. In the event that the course is cancelled, you’ll receive a full refund. We will contact you prior to the start of the course if it is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Otherwise assume the class is going forward.
