In order for greatest number of people possible to participate in the CDP, we allocate a portion of our budget for student financial assistance, which is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited resources, we recommend that you apply as early as possible. We cannot guarantee that every application will result in assistance. Please do not apply for assistance unless you have true financial need, even if you’ve received financial support from CMSC in the past for other trainings.
You may make your request for assistance on the online Course Application, or email befriendyourself@gmail.com for more information.
We take the following into account when making financial aid decisions:
- Mitigating life circumstances. Mitigating circumstances could include prolonged unemployment, volunteering/working in underserved areas, family illness or death, costly legal procedures, etc.
- Your true needs. Considering what is most true, kind, and wise, what specific amount do you feel you are able to pay each month? Support is based on need, which is separate from being financially over-extended or over-committed.
There is a $125 course deposit due with your application (adjusted from the standard deposit of $250). Your course deposit WILL BE REFUNDED if we are unable to obtain a mutually workable financial arrangement.
Scholarships for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)
The CDP acknowledges the under-representation of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in our community, and we are committed to proactively fostering greater accessibility. We believe that in order to make self-compassion training accessible to all, it is vital to actively support diversity amongst participants and teachers. To this end, we provide two 50% scholarships per CDP cohort to people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or Persons of Color.
Priority for scholarships will be given to BIPOC applicants who have demonstrated previous commitment to serving communities of color and/or a good-faith aspiration to bring MSC to communities of color through future teaching endeavors, social work, education, and/or other healing or public service professions. However, this is not a requirement in order to apply.
To apply for the scholarship, indicate your interest when you fill out the standard application. There is a $125 deposit due with all applications (adjusted from the standard deposit of $250). Course deposits WILL BE REFUNDED if scholarships are exhausted and/or we are unable to obtain a mutually workable financial arrangement.
